Drivers License / ID Restrictions

Driver License Requirements

• •All hirers must be in possession of a valid, original driving licence including photo ID.
• •Driving licenses must have been held for a minimum of 1-2 years, depending on the driver's age.
• •Driving licences must be in English, Latin or Roman alphabet.
• •Digital driving licenses are not accepted; a physical driving license is required to hire.
• •An International Driving Permit is required when the driving license is not in English, Latin or Roman alphabet.
• •When renting within Greece, customers from non-EU countries (with the exception of UK license holders) must also present an International Driving Permit along with their domestic license.
• •If the hirer arrives at the rental desk without the necessary documentation, the booking will be cancelled and no refund will be issued.

Rental May Be Denied For

• •Previous driving disqualifications
• •Pending prosecution or police enquiry
• •Convictions for offences relating to theft, fraud or dishonesty
• •At-fault accident within the last 5 years
• •More than 1 accident in the last 3 years
• •Defective vision

Forms of Identification: Valid photo ID (passport or national ID).

Local Traveller Restrictions: N/A

Forms of Payment

The accepted cards must be in the main driver's name, have sufficient funds to cover the excess liability, and have an expiration date at least 2 months beyond the return date of the rental. If a valid card is not provided, the booking may be cancelled and no refund will be issued for any prepaid amount.

If the original booking was paid with a third-party credit or debit card, hirers may be required to present details, permissions and authorisation relating to the transaction.

Deposit and Protection Packages

Green Motion offers four packages with varying levels of protection. The Basic package is the cheapest but has the highest damage and theft excess; Premium Plus is the most expensive but includes zero excess and a low security deposit. Theft excess is never removed. A security deposit is pre-authorised on the main driver's credit card and its release can take up to 14 working days.

Third-party liability is included in all rates, limited to approximately 1,300,000 EUR for personal injury and approximately 1,300,000 EUR for property. For rentals exceeding 11 days, the excess amount may be deducted rather than pre-authorised.

Insurance Information

All packages include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Theft Protection with excess, Third Party Liability, airport fee (where applicable), environmental fees, 24/7 breakdown assistance, and VAT 24%.

Damage and Theft Excess Reduction / Waiver Products

Reduced Damage Waiver (RDW) reduces the damage/theft excess to a lower amount. RDW does not cover damage to the interior or underside of the vehicle, tyre and wheel damage, broken or lost keys or contamination of fuel. SCDW (removed excess) and PAI are available at the counter for most groups; mechanical parts are never covered.

Cross Border and Ferry Restrictions

Border crossing is not permitted; renters are required to stay within Greece for the full duration of their rental. Cross border without notice will result in a penalty of 3,000 EUR.

• •Vehicles are permitted on ferries only after written approval by Green Motion Greece.
• •Ferry travel permission (FTR) costs 31 EUR per direction (usually 62 EUR per island); unlimited ferry use is available for 155 EUR.
• •Ferry use without notice will result in a penalty of 250 EUR.
• •Ferry transfer is not permitted from the islands of Rhodes, Kos and Samos.

Optional Equipment List and Cost

• •Baby seat / Infant seat: 10 EUR per day (max 98 EUR per rental)
• •Booster seat: 7 EUR per day (max 86.80 EUR per rental)
• •Snow chains: 10 EUR per day (max 124 EUR per rental)
• •Sat Nav / GPS: 7 EUR per day (max 124 EUR per rental)
• •Roadside assistance: 7 EUR per day
• •Additional Driver: 8 EUR per day

Fees, Fuel and Mileage Policies

• •Fuel policy: like for like — return the vehicle with the same fuel level as supplied. Missing fuel is charged per litre plus a refuelling fee of 14.88 EUR.
• •Mileage: Basic limited to 150 km per day, Plus limited to 250 km per day, Premium and Premium Plus unlimited. Exceeding the allowance costs 0.20 EUR + VAT per km.
• •Minimum driver age is 21 with the Young Driver Surcharge and 23 or 25 without it, depending on car group. Drivers aged 74 and over pay a senior driver surcharge.
• •Out of Hours: pickups/returns 21:01-23:59 and 06:01-07:59 cost 25 EUR; 00:00-06:00 cost 50 EUR. Late notice (less than 24h) costs 50 EUR.
• •One way hire: not all locations offer one-way rentals; where offered, an additional fee applies.
• •In case of damage or theft, an administration fee of 50 EUR is charged regardless of fault. The same administration fee applies to fines and traffic violations.
• •Smoking in vehicles is prohibited (86.80 EUR charge). Excessively dirty vehicles incur a deep cleaning charge of 86.80-150 EUR.
• •Late returns: grace period of 59 minutes, after which the prevailing daily rate applies.

Cancellation and No-Show Policy

• •Reservations are held for 2.5 hours from the reservation time (2 hours without a flight number or at downtown locations); after that they are classed as a no-show and are non-refundable.
• •All cancellations must be made in writing or through your Green Motion account; telephone cancellations are not accepted.
• •Basic package: non-refundable.
• •Plus and Premium packages: 7+ days before start a 15 EUR fee applies; 3-6 days before 50% is charged; 2 days before 75%; 0-1 days 100%.
• •Premium Plus package: free cancellation up to 48 hours before the reservation start time.
